Tears, Trials, and Travels
My husband went to be with Jesus in May 2016. Yes, I'm still grieving. I homeschool my kids. If you were in my position, wouldn't you travel around the country for a year?

Burned out in Tennessee

I’m a bit rejuvenated after visiting with friends (and talking non-stop). I’ve been tired and unsure of myself. Are things better than when we left? I think so.

We left Virginia with a perfectly working (maybe?) RV. We drove to Pigeon Forge, TN. I actually didn’t know this was a popular place. We have exhausted our budget so looked for all the cheap things in town to do. We walked around, saw a water fall, and went to a movie (which was shockingly one of the cheapest things to do). We went to the Great Smoky Mountains, but having been to several National Parks and being from Colorado, we weren’t impressed. Apparently it’s the most visited, however. I decided it’s because I’ve become jaded. Everything has become a blur. You’ve seen one, you’ve seen them all….

We moved on to Chattanooga, but again, I was trying to keep a pace that I’ve lost. It was difficult to find adventure and be a tourist when I’ve done it so much. I took Harmony to a cool playground and later forced the others to drive into town. We walked across the walking bridge and…drove to a mall for some mall food. Not my finest hour. (I love that Harmony is never burned out)

We drove to my friends’ farm next, about an hour south of Nashville. It was great respite for the kids and I. The girls played non-stop with their kids, we got to experience farm life (and learned to milk a cow), and Caleb spent some time away from us in the RV. I had enough clarity to decide to (eek don’t kill me) skip Nashville. I just think it would have been too much for me in my frame of mind. Plus Adam would have liked it more than me. Plus it’s more adult friendly than kid friendly.

So we drove to my next friend in Kentucky and continued not doing much (although we did get our hair done). We did school work (and the kids played). Have I mentioned how much I love reconnecting?

Yes, I’m thinking about the future non-stop. Should I move? Go to school? Work full time? Part time? Do another Host Home? Continue traveling? Join a Bible Study? Work from home?

I’m coming home with more questions than answers, but I THINK we might be in better shape than one year ago.

When we went to Kentucky I went to a hair salon and I got a trim and bangs. I played with my moms friends son. We played Minecraft and some baseball.

When we went to Tennessee we visited a friend’s farm. I was holding a bunny and it scratched me but it was like a strong solid scratch. I played with some friends there also. We went into the woods (they have woods in their backyard.) and they have a swing made out of a tree branch.

I played on my friends Ukulele singing a song I made up called “I’m A Country Person”

My mom took me to play In the park and there was this pretend train (because it was in Chattanooga)

Then we saw this cool waterfall. My mom tries to get to all these waterfalls and they actually end up being very pretty.
